We didn't know that was would be the last time we'd see him alive, he had a stroke the next morning and died a few hours after that. Ten years and it feels like it was only a few days ago....

Yesterday this beautiful dog pictured above was killed be a hit and run driver. She had been tied to a pole while her owner went into a store for a pack of cigarettes. When he came out to check on her, the dog and the "pole" were gone - there was commotion in the street, and the dog had been struck by a car.

This dog was the only dog I ever owned, even though I had left her and her owner a year ago, I still considered her "my" dog. Something told me yesterday to have one of my friends email my ex specifically to see how the dog was doing - and later that same afternoon tragedy struck. As my ex said to her, "Rys was always very intuitive when it came to Daisy,"

Last night I went to a show with someone I've been friends with for almost 20 years. He's married with kids but once in awhile needs to get out and re-live his old rock and roll life style. We dated like forever ago, and now I consider him one of my closest friends. His wife doesn't see me as a threat, and he's always gotten along with my significant others.

I hadn't seen him in awhile, so we were catching up while I nursed I huge Irish Coffee, waiting for the bands to start.

Me: So, I'm, like...kind of seeing someone, but you know ..it's not like serious because...like...I'm not ready for that right now Like...uh... I'm not over the ape yet. (I am always awkward talking about my relationships in front of him)

- The She Beast of Nassau County yeah you would think but he was booking it to early and the reserve said that and doesn't know how the bulls will be and the conditons at that time. He said they are wild animals and saftely comes first . He told me a trainer died two weeks ago from a Elephant he worked with for many years. I told him to wait a few months try to book it again if I can't do it than I will just do a morning safari at the reserve.

The original photo was a close up of the guy in red's face - I cropped it out to spare my readers their sanity.

Yesterday I went to the fifth avenue Italian Feast in Bay Ridge, in the greatest city in the world, Brooklyn. I only went out there to support my friend Joe who was competing in a Karaoke contest. Today the bar that was sponsoring the contest posted photos to their Facebook, and lo and behold, here's Joe and I in the background. This is perfect because I'm in front of Dunkin' Donuts holding a cup of coffee!! It's not really a photo bomb because we're not doing anything wacky, but I'm just being me. In Brooklyn, and HAPPY!!!

I love little Daisy, who actually isn't very little as you can see from these photos. She was adopted from a kill shelter in Northern Virgina by Big Ape and Junior in 2005. They think her previous owners couldn't deal with her because she was very difficult to train and would be considered a "bad" dog. The fucking Dog Whisperer would lose is mind over this dog. Last week when I was showing some friends around Joe's house, Daisy followed us into the basement, and had a really defiant yet smug look on her face as she squatted down and peed all over the rug. But I couldn't be angry with her. Look at that face!!!

These photos aren't the best quality - they were taken with my LG Neon phone which has since gone to cell phone heaven.

Today is the Seventh Anniversary of my Dad's death. To this day I think coney Island Hospital killed him. Seriously - he wasnt' dead when he went in there but two days after he was admitted.... I swear to God they did something to him because they needed the bed space. And my mom still refuses to give me the names of the Doctor's he saw before he death. What does she think I'm some sort of psycho that would go after them with a baseball bat? How silly.

Anyway in titling this post I remembered that my dad used to randomly use phrases or verses from literature just in passing, to throw us (And everyone else) off. one of his favorite sayings was, "Nil Desperandum" which is Latin for "never despair" He took that as the motto for our family. Another of his favorites was "We can bear nothing with greater equanimity than the misfortunes of our friends'. I'm not going to explain that if you don't understand. That's what dictionary .com is for.

The weather here in Shtiville MA is typical dreary Autumn New England weather - overcast, dark, moody. Very appropriate.
